Counseling and Academic Advising
As part of USD's general education curriculum, all freshmen students are assigned to a preceptorial class during their first semester. The professor, known as a "Preceptor," serves as the student's academic advisor and can assist in answering questions about academic planning. Once a student declares a major, he/she will be assigned an advisor in the department of the chosen major.

In addition, as a student-athlete, you may also meet an athletic academic counselor. Ron Valenzuela, Antwan Joseph, Greg Camarillo and Kendall Marvin are available to discuss academic plans. It is your responsibility to meet with your Athletic Academic Counselor to ensure that you are keeping up with NCAA eligibility requirements. Please review your Student-Athlete Handbook for further information on your academic eligibility requirements.
