USD Sports Center receives new state-of-the-art hardwood floor

June 30, 2009

(San Diego, CA) - For the first time since it opened its doors close to fifty years ago, the USD Sports Center gymnasium received a major renovation with the installation of a new hardwood floor. Up until the year 2000, the USD Sports Center was home to the Torero women's volleyball squads, and both men's and women's basketball teams. Since the opening of the Jenny Craig Pavilion, all three teams still use the Sports Center occasionally for their practices. The floor was installed by Championship Performance Surfaces, a company that has installed numerous floors for the NBA, colleges, high schools, and various other athletic venues.

"Championship Performance Surfaces has installed a state of the art "Horner" hardwood floor system for our student-athletes, intramural teams, and club sports to compete and practice on," said Andy Fee, USD Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Operations. "This new hardwood surface will provide an environment which is safer, and also reduce the physical stress on our athletes' bodies with the new technology engineered into the floor. Our entire athletic department and campus recreation program are thrilled to have one of the best practice facilities on the west coast."

Championship Performance Surfaces delivers the "Total Package" by integrating resource procurement, manufacturing and product development with installation management - an all-in-one, value-added system they call Total Project Management (TPM). CPS is proud to provide building products that are certified from properly managed forests and manufacturing procedures making LEED certification part of the solution.
