SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Along with raising the 2008 WCC Tournament Championship banner in USD's home opener against Nevada on November 18th, the Toreros are excited to be a part of the first annual San Diego "Tee-Off and Tip-Off" charity event.
The two-day event, which culminates with a VIP reception followed by the USD-Nevada game, includes a dinner and auction at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club and a golf tournament with celebrity participation at the La Costa Resort. Celebrity's include: Kevin Towers (Executive Vice President / General Manager San Diego Padres), Bruce Bochy (San Francisco Giants Manager), Tony Graziani (Former NFL Quarterback), Rick Aguilera (Member of the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame), Eric Musselman (Former NBA Head Coach for Kings & Warriors), Dennis Paulson (PGA Tour Golfer, Winner 2000 Buick Classic), and Mark Redman (Major League Pitcher, World Series Champion and All-Star). Proceeds from these activities benefit the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund and San Diego-based Father Joe's Village. During the month of October the entire USD men's basketball team participated in the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk and the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. This will be the third of many event men's basketball will participate in this season as part of community outreach.
