Sophomore guard Malina Hood.
Dec. 9, 2013
Sophomore guard Malina Hood of the women's basketball team has been named the USD Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week for the week of December 2nd to December 8th. Hood recorded double-digit scoring efforts in both of the Toreros games this week including setting a career-high with 19 points in a win over Cal State Fullerton. She helped lead the Toreros to a 2-0 record this week as they improve to 9-0 on the season.
Hood has done most of her damage from beyond the arc as she has been lighting it up from three point range. She went 5-9 from three point range in recording her career-high 19 points against Cal State Fullerton and 3-5 from beyond the arc recording 12 points in a win over Seattle University.
The Toreros are on the road this Friday versus Long Beach State and return home December 20th when they host UC Irvine. They are currently receiving votes in the national rankings and would become the first nationally ranked basketball team in school history should they crack the Top 25 this season.
