Will manage and set the direction for Torero strategic communication and digital efforts
Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs/Senior Woman Administrator
Bill McGillis, USD's Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Athletics, is pleased to announce the hiring of Marcy Lanoue as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs and Senior Woman Administrator.
"Marcy has a strong background in development, marketing and sales, and the vibrant personality, energy and joy she brings to our program will inspire everyone around her," said Bill McGillis. "She will play a pivotal role in our effort to tell the story of Torero athletics, to enhance the Torero brand, to fill the seats of Jenny Craig Pavilion, Torero Stadium, Fowler Park and our other venues, and to provide an amazing game-day experience for USD students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans."
Lanoue will lead the department's marketing, sales, communications, and branding and related revenue-generating initiatives, while also playing a significant role in USD's future fundraising efforts. In addition, she will serve as the department's Senior Woman Administrator.
Lanoue joins USD from Southern Miss, where she served as the Associate AD for Development since September, 2015. In her role at Southern Miss, she collaborated with the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Southern Miss Athletic Foundation team in directing and coordinating initiatives related to fundraising for Southern Miss Athletics. Lanoue was responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts. She worked closely with alumni and friends of Southern Miss to determine philanthropic interests to meet department financial goals to support the education and experiences of student-athletes.
"First and foremost, I would like to communicate how excited I am to become a Torero," said Marcy Lanoue. "A very special thank you to Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Athletics, Bill McGillis, for providing me this incredible opportunity to join the prestigious University of San Diego. USD is a place full of opportunity and our university's vision and mission convey that. I look forward to joining a team where we can set our goals high and achieve what we dream and wish. Lastly, I can't wait to begin this journey alongside our talented student-athletes, coaches, staff, campus community, alumni and friends of USD."
Prior to Southern Miss, Lanoue was at the University of South Florida for four years from 2011-2015. She was Coordinator of External Affairs before being elevated to Director of Development in 2013. She also worked at the University of Miami from 2009-2011 in the Hurricanes' development and ticket offices. A native of Bradenton, Fla., Lanoue graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in Communication in 2008. She got her start in athletics as an Executive Assistant to the Director of Athletics from 2006-2009.
