Tyler Mariucci will serve as the Chief Development Officer for athletics at USD. In his role, he will oversee all fundraising efforts and staff for the development office, with an emphasis on alumni outreach, major gifts and annual giving, the Torero Athletic Association and capital campaign projects. Additionally, he will also be the sport administrator for football and men's golf.

"I have great confidence in Tyler's ability to lead our renewed fundraising initiatives," stated Bill McGillis, Associate VP and Executive Director of Athletics. "Engaging everyone who cares about Torero athletics, and marshalling their investment in our program, will be critical to our future success. Tyler has demonstrated the leadership, knowledge and relationship-building skills necessary to do that at three other universities, and I believe he will do the same at USD. He has learned from some of the very best fundraisers in our industry at Fresno State, Memphis and Maryland, and we are very fortunate that he is joining our team. Tyler's California roots and outstanding football pedigree will also add great value to our program."

Mariucci comes to San Diego from the University of Maryland where he has spent the last three years, most recently as the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Administration and Development. Mariucci has secured numerous major gifts, including six and seven figure donations towards capital projects and scholarships throughout his intercollegiate athletics career. At Maryland, he was a member of the AD's management team, serving as the sport supervisor for a number of their intercollegiate teams as well as playing a leadership role in all facets of the development office. During the 2014 - 16 academic years, Mariucci was part of an annual giving effort that saw unprecedented growth from $8.3M in 2014 to $11.4M in 2016. The Terrapin Club also saw significant growth in major gifts received, including the successful launch of the $155 million Cole Field House Project Capital Campaign. Additionally, Tyler also represented Maryland at the conference level by serving on the Big Ten's Sport Management Committee and served on the AD's search committee that hired Head Football Coach DJ Durkin.

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to join the staff and coaches at the University of San Diego," said Tyler Mariucci. "I look forward to connecting with the many Torero alumni, donors and fans at this world-renowned institution. I am confident that together we can help provide USD student-athletes with a first class student-athlete experience. I want to thank Executive Director of Athletics Bill McGillis and the many university leaders who helped make this opportunity possible to join the University of San Diego family!"

Prior to Maryland, Tyler served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Development at the University of Memphis. There he managed the day-to-day operations of the athletic development office and staff, including major gifts, Tiger Scholarship Fund, and the M Club. During his time at Memphis, the development office saw a record amount of major gifts received and set an all-time record in number of luxury football suites sold in Liberty Bowl Stadium. Mariucci, who began his career in intercollegiate athletics at Fresno State, successfully raised major gifts to break ground on the $7 million Meyers Family Sports Medicine Center.

A graduate and former student-athlete of California Polytechnic State University -- San Luis Obispo, Mariucci received his B.S. degree in Kinesiology in 2007 and M.A. in Kinesiology/Sports Management from San Jose State in 2010. Mariucci, the son of former NFL head coach Steve Mariucci, is a third generation collegiate student-athlete following the linage of his father (Northern Michigan) and grandfather (Michigan State). Tyler's wife Jennifer is a former NCAA Division I student-athlete at Fresno State in the sport of Equestrian. They have a son, Kyle.
