SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Torero Spirit Team held its annual summer camp for the 2012-2013 season from August 28th through September 3rd This camp is a time of intense training and preparation for the Spirit Team as they get ready for the upcoming 2012-2013 seasons for football, as well as men's and women's basketball. The team launched off the new school year with a high-energy performance at the Freshman Spirit Rally in the Jenny Craig Pavilion!
Each spring, Torero Athletics holds auditions for the upcoming school year's Torero Spirit Team. The Torero Spirit Team is a nationally ranked dance and cheer team that performs at USD football and basketball games. Halftime performances incorporate a wide variety of styles, including jazz, hip hop, and pom.
Spirit Team tryouts consist of a dance, cheer, and technique portion, in which participants are taught a 4 eight count hip hop/jazz combo routine, across the floor technique combinations, as well as a cheer/chant. Judging is based on a selection system. The judges and coaches will make the choices and cuts on that day. Participants must also undergo individual interviews prior to the final dance cut.
During the spring of 2012, over 30 individuals participated in auditions for the 2012-2013 Torero Spirit Team, as well as submitted auditions via mail. After a very long and intense day of auditions and individual interviews, Torero Athletics selected a team of some of the most talented and spirited USD students.
Torero Athletics is proud to announce the 2012-2013 Torero Spirit Team!
