SOPHOMORE (2011): Earned WCC Honorable Mention Honors as a utility player with 41 game starts...with a .316 (54-for-171) batting average...totaled 20 RBIs and 33 runs scored...recorded his best offensive game of the season against San Diego State, where he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and three runs scored...had a 10 game hitting streak at the end of the season, totaling 14 hits and six runs scored.
FRESHMAN (2010): As a redshirt freshman he appeared in 25 games with 11 games started... Helped lead the team to the 2010 WCC Championship...Hit .411 (23-for-56) with nine runs, two doubles, three RBI, and two stolen bases... In five straight games (4/23/10 - 5/08/10) he recorded at least two hits....has been a valuable part of the Toreros infield, while also being rotated in as a designated hitter...named ALL-WCC Honorable Mention.
FRESHMAN (2009): Redshirted at USD.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played both baseball and football where he was the quarterback for local Santa Fe Christian High School... His senior season he batted .400 with a .631 OBP... He also stole 10 bases, had 1 HR and struck out only once while earning both Team MVP and Coastal League Player of the year honors... His junior year he batted .381 with a .531 obp... He had 8 stolen bases, 2 HRs and only 2 strikeouts.
PERSONAL: Dillon Checkall was born on February 24th, 1990 in San Diego, CA.... He is the son of Michelle and Brian Checkal... Was recruited by Cornell, Chapman, and Biola... Chose to attend USD because of the solid academics and great baseball program.
