WCC Honors 110 USD Student-Athletes on Commissioner's Honor Roll

The nine WCC schools put a total of 1,093 student-athletes on the list from the 13 sports that the conference sponsors, which is another new conference record.

JUNIOR (2011): Made 37 game appearances with 8 game starts...with a .200 batting average, going 9-for-45...recording one homerun, two triples and one double...compiled a .378 slugging percentage and .321 on base percentage... totaled 7 RBIs and 11 runs scored...had five walks and one stolen base...went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored against Santa Clara (5/22/2011)...had his best offensive outing against San Diego Christian, where he went 2-for-4 with a homerun, three RBIs and 2 runs scored (5/11/2011).

SOPHOMORE (2010): Appeared in 26 games for the Toreros ...Was a key reserve player in helping the Toreros win the West Coast Conference and advancing to the NCAA Regionals... Saw his action in the outfield or as a pinch runner or hitter... Despite a .133 (2-for-15) batting average, he compiled a .350 on-base percentage... In a game against Santa Clara (4/17/10) he went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

FRESHMAN (2009): Appeared in 46 games, making 23 starts...produced a .287 batting average (29-for-101), driving in 21 runs...recorded a season-high three hits on 3/31 at UC Riverside...went 1-for-4 with a season-high 4 RBI on 4/5 at Santa Clara, capping a 5-game streak in which he drove in at least one run...between 3/29 and 4/14, went 13-for-31 (.419) with 13 last game of season on 5/12 at No. 1 UC Irvine, reached base four times (2 hits, 2 walks).

HIGH SCHOOL: Played baseball at Oceanside High School as a utility a junior he hit .290 and had 27 stolen bases, while helping his team reach the CIF a senior he hit .360 and had 24 stolen bases, while helping his team reach the CIF finals...he was a two-time second-team All-Avocado League performer.

PERSONAL: Jonathan Hotta was born on Oct. 31, 1989 in Long Beach, Calif....he is the son of John and Mary Hotta...chose to attend USD because of the academic prestige and because of the outstanding baseball program.
