SENIOR (2017): Started in all 54 games... Hit .314 with nine home runs and 38 RBI... Had a fielding percentage of .989... Was selected to the All-WCC second team... His 18 doubles were tied for second most on the team... Went 4-for-5 hitting two home runs and five RBI at Santa Clara (3/25)... Had another two home run game at home against Pacific (4/14)... WCC Player of the Week (4/10/17)... Drafted by the LA Dodgers in the 31st round.

JUNIOR (2016): Started in 52 of the 55 games played... Hit .278 with 1 homerun, 32 total runs, 28 RBIs, 20 doubles, and 1 triple... Hit his solo homerun early in the season against San Diego State (2/25) after going 2-3 with 2 RBIs... Hit 2-5 against Nebraska (2/26) scoring 2 runs and an RBI... Went 2-5 against William & Mary (3/8) with a double and a pair of runs... Had the most RBIs of his season against Columbia (3/16) with 3 after hitting 2-4... When the Toreros played at Pepperdine (3/25), Mercado-Hood went 3-3 at bat and scored all 3 times with an RBI and a double... Went 5-10 in two of the three game series at Portland (4/29-30) with 3 runs, 2 RBIs, and a double... Hit his only triple against Pacific (5/15) after hitting 3-5 with 2 runs and a double... In the sole game against Arizona State (5/18), he reached home both times at bat... In 2 of the games in the series versus Gonzaga (5/19-21), Mercado-Hood hit 4-9 with 2 total runs, a pair of RBIs and 2 doubles.

SOPHOMORE (2015): Played 41 games with 27 starts... hit .213 with five doubles and 10 RBI... helped lead the team to the WCC championship...went 2-3 with one double and two RBI against Dallas Baptist (2/22/15)... went 2-5 with one double and one RBI against BYU (3/28/15).

Freshman (2014): Played in 32 games with 17 starts... hit .307 with two doubles and nine RBI... went 4-for-7 with one double and three RBI in series against Northern Kentucky (2/22-2/23)... went 4-for-5 with one RBI against Brigham Young University (3/15)...named first-team All-West Coast League in the summer, while playing for the Victoria HarbourCats.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at De La Salle High School...was a three-time first-team All-East Bay Athletic Conference selection...as a senior, he hit .495 with five home runs, 14 doubles, 18 RBI and scored 35 runs en route to being tabbed the EBAL MVP, and a Louisville Slugger first-team All-American...as a junior, he hit .330 with one home run and 10 RBI...as a sophomore, he hit .395 with four home runs and 20 RBI, while also being named first-team All-Nor Cal.

PERSONAL: Hunter Mercado-Hood was born on February 16, 1995 in Sacramento, Calif....he is the son of Jim Hood and Danette Mercado...was also recruited by UCLA, Oregon and Cal Poly...chose to attend USD because he feels this was the best fit for both his athletic and academic needs.
