FRESHMAN (2016): Started in 11 of the 23 games played in the 2016 season... Hit an average of .250 with 13 total hits for a total of nine runs along with three RBI, five doubles and a triple... Started the season going 1-for-2 at Vanderbilt (2/21)... Hit his only time at bat against Columbia (3/15) with a double... Most RBI were scored against BYU (4/9) with two, after hitting 2-for-5 and a double... Followed up at UNLV (4/11) going 2-for-3 and scoring both times he hit... Hit his lone triple of the season against San Diego State (4/12) after going 1-for-4... Went 2-for-5 at Pacific (5/14) with a run scored.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Dana Hills High School...as a senior, he hit .327 with 31 RBI, 12 doubles, four home runs, 14 stolen bases and scored 25 runs en route to being named first-team All-South Coast League, and third-team All-Orange County...left the school as the career doubles leader with 35, third in career hits (91), third in career RBI (63) and fourth in career stolen bases with 23...as a junior, he hit .290 with 16 RBI, 13 doubles, two home runs and 21 runs scored, and was named first-team All-Sea View League...as a sophomore, he hit .303 with 15 RBI, 10 doubles, one home run, 15 runs scored and seven stolen bases, and he took home All-Sea View League Honorable Mention accolades.
PERSONAL: Jay Schuyler was born on April 11, 1997 in Newport Beach, Calif....he is the son of Maureen and Brian Schuyler...was also recruited by UC Irvine and UC San Diego...chose to attend USD because of the great academic opportunity, established baseball program, and the San Diego atmosphere...notes he is on the Wall of Fame at Dana Hills High School for receiving six varsity letters, and four All-League honors...he also enjoys being at the beach playing volleyball and he likes to wakeboard.
