Freshman (2006): Made 15 appearances with 13 starts...posted a 4-3 record with an ERA of 4.25...Rivals.com named him a second-team Freshman All-American...was also named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball...was named to Baseball America's All-Freshman team...was second on the team in strikeouts with 93...made his collegiate debut against Texas throwing four solid innings of relief to pick up the save (3/3/06)...was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week after a solid performance against Pepperdine as he allowed one run on five hits while striking out six in eight complete innings of work (4/21/06)...Had another solid outing against Georgia allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out a season-high 11 batters in eight complete innings of work (2/26/06)...picked up win against San Diego State allowing one run on three hits, while striking out 10 in eight innings of work (3/10/06).
High School: Earned two varsity letters in baseball playing for Keith Merkel at St. Mary's High...posted an 8-1 record with an ERA of 0.50 as a senior en route to earning the state of Arizona Player of the Year award along with a Baseball America All-America distinction...was drafted in the fourth round of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft by the Angels...was named first-team All-State as a junior after posting a 8-2 record with an ERA of 0.95.
Personal: Born Feb. 11, 1987 in Grand Junction, Colorado...was heavily recruited by Arizona State, Pepperdine and UCLA...chose to attend USD because of the academic opportunities as well as the baseball program...his father Michael ran track and field at Purdue University and his brother Chris is currently playing baseball at Iowa Wesleyan.
