SOPHOMORE (2017): Was an All-WCC First Team Selection after posting a 9-1 record with a 3.29 ERA... Appeared in 15 games (14 starts).. His win-loss mark tied a Torero record for best win percentage in a single season... Pitched eight innings with seven strikeouts and no runs allowed at home against BYU (4/20)... Allowed one run in 7.1 innings pitched at Saint Mary’s (5/5)... Named to USA Collegiate National Team after the season.

FRESHMAN (2016): Made 16 appearances with 10 starts on the mound...was third on the team with 70 strikeouts, while posting a 5-7 record with a 5.92 ERA in 65.1 innings of work... allowed just one run on three hits in 8.0 innings of work, while striking out a career-high 10 batters against New Mexico State (3/11/16)...made two appearances in the series against Portland, allowing no runs on a combined two hits in 6.2 total innings of work...recorded eight strikeouts against Saint Mary's (3/18/16)...recorded eight strikeouts against (3/5/16).

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at El Dorado High a senior, he posted a 1.71 ERA, had 10 wins, struck out 102 batters in 73.2 innings of work en route to earning the League MVP, and being named first-team All-League, first-team All-State, and the Orange County Pitcher of the Year... as a junior, he had a 1.12 ERA, posted four wins, and struck out 56 batters in 56.1 innings of work... named first-team All-League... as a sophomore, he posted a 1.12 ERA with four wins and 56 strikeouts en route to being named first-team All-League, and was named the Century League Rookie of the Year.

PERSONAL: Nicholas Anthony Sprengel was born on June 4, 1997 in Torrance, Calif.... he is the son of David and Diane Sprengel... chose to attend USD because of the baseball program, and to further his education... notes he drinks his coffee black.
