NEW ORLEANS, Louis. -- The Torero baseball team (10-3) completed the four-game sweep at Tulane Sunday afternoon with a 6-2 win over the Green Wave. The Toreros are the first team to sweep Tulane in a four game series at home in 56 years.
The Toreros scored in the second inning for the fourth straight game. With runners on first and third, Connor Doyle hit a two-out RBI single to center to give USD a 1-0 lead.
USD added a run in the third inning. Jeff Houghtby led off the inning with a single up the middle. After the next two batters were retired, Jay Schuyler hit a RBI double down the right field line putting USD up 2-0.
Tulane responded in the third inning, scoring on a Lex Kaplan RBI single through the right side. Paul Kunst led off the fifth with a single through the left side and came around to score on a Riley Adams sacrifice fly to left field.
The Toreros scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning when Houghtby and Adams scored on back-to-back wild pitches, bringing the score to 5-1.
