PORTLAND, Ore. - Travis Vetters run-scoring double in the bottom of the 15th-inning lifted the University of Portland to a 4-3 West Coast Conference win over the 18th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team Sunday afternoon.

With the loss the Toreros fall to 22-12 overall and 4-2 in the WCC, but still claimed the three-game series over the Pilots by posting wins on both Friday and Saturday. With the win the Pilots improve to 11-20 overall and 1-5 in the WCC.

In the bottom of the 15th-inning Portland's Vetters hit a stand-up double to left-center scoring Matthew Peters, who had singled, to give the Pilots the come-from-behind win.

USD jumped out the early lead scoring one run in the second inning on a Ryan Lilly RBI single to right field which scored Jordan Abruzzo, who reached on a single to center field.

In the top of the fifth inning the Toreros tacked on two more runs on three hits. Kevin Hansen got things rolling with a stand-up double to left center field. Josh Romanski then brought Hansen across for the first run on a triple down the right field line. Justin Snyder drove in the second run of the inning on a RBI single, scoring Romanski from third, to give USD a brief 3-0 lead.

The Pilots then answered USD's two runs with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning. Portland scored on a bases loaded Nik Kosach walk and a Matthew Peters sacrifice fly to center field to pull within one.

Portland's Sean Nicol was able to knot the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning on a run scoring double through the left side, scoring Andrew Wrisley who was pinch running for James Allen who had singled.

Shane Buschini and Hansen led the offensive charge for the Toreros both going 3-for-6.

Matt Couch (5-1) was saddled with the loss for the Toreros after coming in to pitch in relief. Couch allowed one run on five hits while striking out a season-high 11 batters in 9.1 innings of work. Brian Yoakum (1-0) picks up the win for the Pilots allowing no runs on one hit in 1.1 innings of work.
