USD vs LMU Game 2 Get Acrobat Reader

Los Angeles, Calif. – The USD Toreros dropped a 10-3 decision at LMU this evening. The Lions used a 7-run 3rd inning on their way to the victory. The Toreros scored 3 runs in the 7th inning with Kevin Collard leading the way with a 2-run double. With the loss the Toreros fall to 28-13 overall and 14-5 in WCC play. LMU improves to 29-14 and 15-5 in conference play. The rubber match is scheduled for Sunday at 1 pm.

Chris Murphy got the start for the Toreros and over 4.0 innings gave up 12 hits and 9 runs. LMU’s big third inning included 7 hits and 7 runs. Spencer Erdman had a 2-run double and later in the inning Billy Wilson supplied a 3-run homer to right field. LMU would add two runs in the 4th inning when Jamey Smart collected a RBI single and Steven Chavez doubled to left center that plated Erdman.

For USD, Collard’s two-run double came with two outs in the 7th inning. He knocked in Jay Schuyler who had reached base on a single to right, and Riley Adams who had reached on an error. Collard would score the team’s third run when Brhet Bewley singled to shortstop and Collard would eventually cross the plate on an LMU throwing error.

Five LMU players knocked two hits against the Toreros with Billy Wilson leading the way with his 2-for-4 outing and 3 RBI. For USD, Carl Burdick pitched the final four innings and gave up just 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 4 Lions.
