SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team once again had double-digit hits, as they pounded out 15 hits to cruise to a 10-2 West Coast Conference win over the University of Portland, Saturday evening at Fowler Park.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 30-21 overall, move to 14-9 in the WCC, claim the series over the Pilots, and now just need one WCC win to secure one of the final two remaining seeds in the upcoming WCC Tournament. With the loss, the Pilots fall to 17-30 overall and 8-12 in the WCC.

All of the Toreros that stepped to the plate this evening recorded at least one hit, with Austin Green leading the way going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Andrew Daniel also had a nice day at the plate, as he went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and one RBI.

On the mound, Michael Wagner (2-5) picked up the win, as he allowed one run on two hits in 5.1 innings of work. Portland's Kurt Yinger (4-5) was saddled with the loss for the Pilots, as he allowed 10 runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings of work.

The Toreros got on the scoreboard first, as they pushed across three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Connor Joe singled through the right side and moved to second on Green's single to left field. Two batters latter, Daniel laced a double down the left field line, which scored both Joe and Green, and Daniel then moved to third on the throw. Logan Davis then laid down a safety squeeze bunt, which scored Daniel, to give USD a 3-0 lead.

After both teams traded a run in the fourth inning, USD would put the game out of reach with three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Portland would cap their scoring for the day with a run in the top of the sixth to put the game at its final of 10-2.

The Toreros will return to action on Sunday at 12 p.m., as they look to complete the sweep over the Pilots and secure a bid into the WCC Tournament.
