SAN DIEGO, Calif. - This weekends opening baseball series between the 12th-ranked University of San Diego and San Diego State University has officially been sold out.
Fans who wish to watch the first two games at Fowler Park can do so live on television on Fox Sports San Diego. Coverage of the Toreros inaugural game at Fowler Park and Cunningham Field on Friday, February 15 begins at 6 p.m. with a special hour-long pregame show hosted by Andy Masur. The show will feature an in-depth look at how the park was constructed as well as a tribute to Ron Fowler, the man after which the new park was named.
The Aztecs return to Fowler Park and Cunningham Field on Saturday, February 16 to face the Toreros at 6:00 PM on FOX Sports San Diego. In the booth for both games will be FSSD's own Padres Live team, Mike Pomeranz calling play-by-play and analyst, Mark Sweeney, along with FOX Sports San Diego's Kelly Crull reporting from the sidelines.
Fox Sports is also hosting a viewing party on Saturday during the USD/SDSU baseball game at Fox Sports Grill. Here are some exciting things happening during this event.
- Those who come out could win a trip to Vegas! MillerCoors is offering fans who come down to the Grill the chance to watch the Final Four at an exclusive viewing party in Las Vegas. So come out and enter to win a prize package that includes a 3-night stay at the Palms Hotel, VIP access to a Final Four party, exclusive club access to Moon and Rain, and $500 spending cash.
- MillerCoors, Mighty 1090, and the FOX Sports San Diego promotion crew will be giving away great prizes, and Megan Olivi, a new member of the FOX broadcast team, will be interviewing fans at the Grill Saturday night for the broadcast.
The entire opening weekend series can also be heard live on the air, as the Mighty 1090 has agreed to come and air the games live on 1700 AM. On Friday, Craig Elsten will call the play-by-play action and he will be joined by Coach John Kentera providing color commentary. On Saturday, it will again be Elsten on play-by-play, but the color analyst will be Ted Mendenhall.
