Six Toreros Earn All-WCC Accolades

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The University of San Diego baseball team had six players earn all-West Coast Conference accolades, highlighted by Bryson Brigman taking home first-team honors. Riley Adams and Daniel Gardner were each name second team, while Brhet Bewley, Kevin Collard and Jeff Houghtby were named to the All-Freshman team.

Brigman takes home his second consecutive first-team honor after leading the USD offense, hitting .372 with 71 hits, eight doubles, one triple, and 22 RBI. Brigman recorded 22 multi-hit games, and had four multi-RBI games. In WCC action, Brigman hit .361 with 43 hits, three doubles, and had 13 RBI.

Adams finished the season as a semi-finalist on the Johnny Bench Award, and he hit .327 overall with 67 hits, 18 doubles, one triple, six hits, and 37 RBI. Adams recorded 17 multi-hit games this season, and had 10 multi-RBI games. In WCC play, Adams hit .283 with 30 hits, seven doubles, three home runs and had 16 RBI.

Gardner takes home his first All-WCC accolade after hitting .296 with 58 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, one home run and 34 RBI. Gardner recorded 15 multi-hit games in his first season in a Torero uniform, as the everyday centerfielder. In WCC play, Garner hit .340 with 35 hits, 10 doubles, one home run and drove in 21 runs.

Bewley had an impressive first season for the Toreros, as he hit .273 with 60 hits, 10 doubles, one triple, one home run and 22 RBI. In WCC games, Bewley hit .321 with 34 hits, eight doubles, one home run and drove in 10 runs.

 

 

Collard also had a great freshman campaign, as he hit .253 with 42 hits, 12 doubles, a team-best nine home runs and he drove in 28 RBI. In WCC games, he hit .253 with 23 hits, seven doubles, four home runs and had 10 RBI.

Houghtby also had a impressive rookie campaign for the Toreros, as he moved his way into the everyday third baseman for USD shortly into the season. Overall, Houghtby hit .263 with 46 hits, seven doubles, one triple, and had 21 RBI. In WCC contests, Houghtby hit .271 with 23 hits, six doubles, and 13 RBI.
