SAN DIEGO, Calif. - University of San Diego junior All-American infielder Connor Joe was drafted as the 39th overall selection in the 2014 Major League baseball draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Joe, the 2014 West Coast Conference Player of the Year, hit .378 with 12 doubles, six home runs and 28 RBI during league play. The junior turned in a .667 slugging percentage, a .481 on base percentage and batted .750 with bases loaded and .372 with runners aboard. Joe struck out just 12 times in 111 league plate appearances and earned 18 walks. Overall, Joe batted .367 with 21 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and led the WCC in RBI (51).
