Louie Lechich was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – For the second day in a row, a member of the Torero baseball team was selected in the MLB Draft. Senior Louie Lechich was selected by the Chicago White Sox with the 168th overall pick in the sixth round, a day after Connor Joe was taken by Pittsburgh Pirates with the 39th overall pick.
A first team All-WCC selection, Lechich had an outstanding senior campaign as a two-way player. At the plate he hit .342 and was second on team with seven home runs and 46 RBI. On the mound, he went 8-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 13 starts. He pitched a team-high 82.1 innings and struck out 50 batters.
Rounds 11-40 will take place Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and more Toreros are expected to be selected. Fans can watch the draft live on MLB.com.
