SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Senior catcher Nick McCoy was the 10th Torero drafted in the Major League Baseball first-year player draft, as he was taken in the 36th round by the New York Yankees.
McCoy, earned a first-team All-WCC distinction for the Toreros this season after hitting .351 with 26 hits, three doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI in league games. Overall, McCoy hit .315 with 58 hits, nine doubles, four home runs and 35 RBI, while catching for one of the nation's best pitching staffs. McCoy helped lead USD to three West Coast Conference championships in his five-year career and earn four trips to the NCAA Regionals.
