ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The accolades keep coming for USD baseball's Riley Adams. A day after being selected in the third round by the Toronto Blue Jays, Adams was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region Second Team.
Adams racked up numerous awards throughout the season, including being named the WCC Player of the Year and a semi-finalist for the Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation's top collegiate catcher.
On the year Adams batted .312 with 12 doubles, 13 homers, 47 RBI and 45 runs scored. His numbers in WCC play were just as impressive as he batted a team-best .380 with nine doubles, eight homers, 25 RBIs, 21 runs scored, and a .710 slugging percentage, which led the WCC. Additionally, he did an outstanding job behind the plate handling Torero pitchers and being a team leader.
The All-Region teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America Committee.
The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Dean Ehehalt of Monmouth University. Also on the committee are Mike Stone of UMass, Brian O'Connor of the University of Virginia, Butch Thompson of Auburn University, Steve Jaksa of Central Michigan University, Dan Heefner of Dallas Baptist University, Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State University and George Horton of the University of Oregon.
