SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team has been ranked as high as No. 14 in the Ping Baseball top-30 preseason poll. The Toreros are also ranked No. 24 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason top-40 poll.
USD will look to make its return to the NCAA Regionals for the fourth time in five years in 2010, after not making it last season. The Toreros return All-American caliber pitching in senior right-hander AJ Griffin, sophomore lefty Sammy Solis and junior right-hander Kyle Blair. On the offensive side of things, San Diego welcomes back the defending WCC Player of the Year, James Meador, along with All-WCC selections Zach Walters, Nick McCoy and Bryan Haar.

The Toreros will open up the 2010 season Feb. 19 against Indiana University inside the friendly confines of Cunningham Stadium with a 2 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
