The USD men's basketball team, under the direction of 10th year head coach Brad Holland, play their second and final exhibition tonight against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos at 7:00 p.m. in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Once again the contest is free to the public. USD won its first exhibition last Sunday afternoon when they came back to beat the L.A. Stars 76-73 behind the efforts of Brice Vounang (20 points, 14 rebounds) and Nick Lewis (18 points, 11 rebounds). The game will also be webcast on the internet at www.usdtoreros.com with Jack Murray calling the action.
This is USD's final contest before tipping off their 2003-04 regular-season schedule next week at the Dell BCA Classic in Cincinnati, Ohio. USD will open up the 8-team tournament with Oakland on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 12 noon. They'll face either UC Irvine or Illinois-Chicago in the second round. Their third game will be against either Xavier, Coppin State, Mercer or Ohio University. All three games, as well as all of USD's nonconference games, will be aired locally on ESPN 800 AM with Jerry Gross calling the play-by-play. The games can also be heard via the internet at www.usdtoreros.com.
