GAME #11: The USD Toreros (7-3) continue their four-game homestand by hosting the Pacifica College Gladiators (0-7) this Tuesday, December 10th. Tip-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

SERIES RECORD: This is the first meeting between USD and Pacifica College.

RADIO: All USD home and away games will be broadcast live on ESPN 1700AM with Andy Masur (7th season) bringing you all the action; his pre-game shows air 15 minutes prior to tip-off. For Tuesday's game with Pacifica, Jack Cronin will be filling in for Masur. The webcast audio stream can also be found at

A LOOK AHEAD: The Toreros close out the week with a contest on Sunday, December 15th, against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (4-3). Game time is slated for 2:05 p.m. from the Jenny Craig Pavilion and will be televised locally on Fox Sports San Diego.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE STANDINGS (thru Dec. 8th): Saint Mary's College (7-0), #16 Gonzaga (8-1), University of the Pacific (7-1), San Diego (7-3), BYU (7-3), Loyola Marymount (6-3), Portland (6-3), Pepperdine (6-4), San Francisco (5-4), Santa Clara (3-5).

COACH GRIER (7TH YEAR): Coach Bill Grier (Oregon, 1990) is in his seventh season at the helm of the USD program... He has this squad off to a 7-3 start, and its 7-1 mark thru the first eight games was only matched by the 2000-01 Torero team since San Diego joined the NCAA Division I ranks in 1979-80... Last year's squad finished 16-18 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the WCC Tournament where they just missed out on advancing to the title game... The Toreros were playing their best basketball down the stretch highlighted by two wins over BYU.

TORERO TIDBITS: The Toreros look to snap their current two-game losing skid Tuesday when they host Pacifica College... The two losses have come against strong competition in New Mexico and San Diego State... In this week's polls SDSU is #24 in Coaches Poll and #25 in AP; UNM is just outside both polls at #27 (AP) and #29 (Coaches Poll)... USD continues to rank nationally in the top-30 in three defensive areas - three point field goal percentage defense (#5, .241), field goal percentage defense (#15, .373) and scoring defense (#26, 61.9)... San Diego ranks first among their West Coast Conference counterparts in these areas as well... Junior guard Christopher Anderson ranks #8 in the nation in total assists (62) and #18 in assists per game (6.2)... Junior guard Johnny Dee ranks 9th in the nation in 3-point field goal attempts (78) and #27 in total 3-pointers made (27)... Through ten games the Toreros are being paced in scoring by Dee (18.0 ppg), sophomore guard Duda Sanadze (12.8 ppg) and Anderson (12.7 ppg)... Senior forward Dennis Kramer continues to lead the team in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and is followed by Thomas Jacobs off the bench at 4.9 rebounds.

DEE HONORED BY SAN DIEGO HALL OF CHAMPIONS: Junior guard Johnny Dee (Vista, Calif.) was selected an amateur star of the month for November by the San Diego Hall of Champions... Dee helped the Toreros basketball team record a 7-2 record during the month of November as he averaged a team-best 17.7 points per game while chipping in with 22 rebounds (2.4), 11 steals and 10 assists. He was solid from the free throw line where he converted 39-of-44 (88.6%). He scored in double-digits in eight of the nine contests with a season-high 27 points in 74-70 win over South Dakota State. With his 19 point effort in 68-61 road win at Morgan State, Dee reached the 1,000 point milestone in just his 3rd game of his junior year. He also scored 19 points against Illinois-Chicago, and closed out the month with a 25 point outburst against New Mexico in The Pit in Albuquerque.

TOREROS DROP HEARTBREAKER IN CITY CHAMPIONSHIP: The USD Toreros put forth a great effort against the 24th-ranked Aztecs in the 2013 version of the City Championship, but came up just short in falling 65-64 before a sellout crowd at the Jenny Craig Pavilion last Thursday. Despite a career-high 22 points from Christopher Anderson and 21 points from Johnny Dee, it wasn't enough. Sophomore guard Duda Sanadze (12 points) made a brilliant defensive effort at the end of the game to allow the Toreros a game-winning shot, but his three-pointer at the buzzer was just off the mark.

THUMBNAIL SKETCH ON UPCOMING OPPONENT: Pacifica College is a start-up NAIA independent from Anaheim, California... The Gladiators are 0-7 on the season and are coming off a 94-78 road loss to West Coast Baptist... Through their first six games they were being paced by 6-6 center Rafael Morelos (12.8 ppg) and 6-4 junior guard Jonathan Earl (11.8 ppg)... First-year head coach Jeron Roberts is also the athletic director.
