GAME #11: The USD Toreros (5-5) return to the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Tuesday to take on the Arizona Christian Firestorm (4-1) in a 7:05 p.m. contest.
SERIES RECORD: This will be the first meeting between these two programs.

A LOOK AHEAD: The Toreros play their crosstown rival San Diego State (7-1) on Saturday in a 7:05 p.m. contest at Viejas Arena. SDSU leads the series with USD 26-17 and has won the last six meetings.

DEE EARNS SECOND WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR: USD sophomore guard Johnny Dee (Vista, CA) has earned his second WCC Player of the Week honor after leading the Toreros to two wins last week over Southern Utah (67-53) and Tulane (78-72). Dee averaged 20.0 points over the two contests while converting 60% from the floor (12-20), 57.1% from behind the arc (8-14) and a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. He scored a game-high 17 points against Southern Utah, including 13 in the first half as the Toreros jumped out to a 36-22 intermission lead. Against Tulane, he scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half and canned 5-of-9 treys for the game.
COACH GRIER (6TH YEAR): Coach Bill Grier (Oregon, 1990) is in his sixth season at the helm of the USD program... He enters the Arizona Christian contest with a 5-5 mark ... Last season's squad finished 13-18, but won 4 of its final 6 regular-season WCC games and then advanced to the quarterfinals of the WCC Basketball Championships before falling to BYU by just 5 points. Bill and his wife, Nicole, have two daughters, Giselle & Ashley.
TORERO TIDBITS: The Toreros gun for their third straight win tonight when they host Arizona Christian... USD has won its last two home games and is now 4-2 at the JCP... Johnny Dee leads the team in home scoring with his 17.5 ppg average... Among WCC schools, USD ranks first in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.379) and blocked shots (4.5 per game), and 2nd in scoring defense (62.1)... Dee ranks 10th in WCC scoring with his 15.4 ppg average, and 3rd in 3-pointers made per game (2.5), 4th in free throw percentage (.871), and 7th in 3-point percentage (.455)... Christopher Anderson ranks 2nd in the WCC in steals (2.7 spg) and 3rd in assists (5.7 apg).
TOREROS DEAL TULANE 78-72 LOSS: USD won their second straight game with an impressive 78-72 home win over the visiting Tulane Green Wave... Tulane came to town with a 7-2 record and the Toreros overcame a 2-point halftime deficit (37-35) to rally for the 6-point win that evens their record at 5-5... Sophomore guard Johnny Dee scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as he canned 5-of-9 three-pointers on the night... Senior forward Ken Rancifer chipped in with a season-best 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc... Senior forward Chris Manresa, playing in his second straight game since coming back from a back injury, earned a spot in the starting lineup and responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds in 25 minutes of action... USD committed a season-low 6 turnovers while shooting 51% from the floor (26-51) and 81.0% from the free throw line (17-21).
SCOUTING THE ARIZONA CHRISTIAN FIRESTORM: Arizona Christian University is an NAIA program that competes in the Golden State Athletics Conference... They bring a record of 4-1 to the Jenny Craig Pavilion, however, they have also played four other games that only count as an exhibition (game with USD will also only counts as an exhibition contest on their record)... The Firestorm are coming off a 92-69 win over UC Santa Cruz on December 8th... In the victory ACU was paced by a trio of players that scored 19 points - junor guard Mason Jones, junior guard Jordan Block and freshman forward Jackson Helms... Five-game statistical leaders include Block (15.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg), senior guard A.J. Koch (12.8 ppg), junior guard Charles King (11.8 ppg) and junior forward Daniel Cornelius (10.2 ppg)... ACU is averaging 77.0 points per game while limiting their opponents to 69.2 ppg... Head Coach Jeff Rutter is in his first season directing the Firestorm fortunes.
