Toreros Perform Well in First Race of Spring

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's rowing team kicked off their spring racing schedule with an impressive performance in a race against cross-town rival UC San Diego, UC Irvine, Cal State Los Angeles and Chapman College this past weekend.

The Torero's varsity eight looked impressive in their run, placing second in the race with a time of 6:02.4, just one second behind the Triton boat from UCSD for first place.

In the men's varsity four race, the Toreros flexed some muscle as they dominated this run with a first place time of 7:26, a full six seconds faster that the Tritons boat, who placed second with a time of 7:32.8.

The USD men's novice four also won their race with a time of 7:31.9, a full 25 seconds faster then the second place boat from Chapman College.

USD will return to action on Sunday, as they head up Interstate 5 to battle the Bruins of UCLA in an All-Day event in Marina Del Ray.
