MARINA DEL RAY, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's rowing team defeated UCLA Sunday morning in a head-to-head competition up in Marina Del Ray.

The Toreros varsity eight boat of Chris Edmunds, Henry Perazzelli, William Stoney, Ryan Boufford, Blake Stocker, James Arndt, Taylor Shramo, Andrew Maffey and coxswain Jennifer Page, defeated the Bruins varsity eight boat by half a boat length over the 2000 meter course. Taking the lead early, the Toreros never looked back as they almost had a full boat length of an advantage at 1000 meters. San Diego was able to hold off the late Bruins push down the stretch to claim the win with a time of 6:08.9

"I could not be happier with the team today," stated head coach Brooks Dagman. "This was the last day of the most aggressive spring training camp I have ever run. They really suffered in the final 700 meters, but were able to stick together as a crew and grab the victory. It was a remarkable performance."
