Men's Rowing Concludes Crew Classic with Good Showing

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's rowing team had a good day in the finale of the San Diego Crew Classic at Mission Bay. The novice eight boat finished in fifth place in the Derek Guelker Memorial Cup and the varsity eight boat finished in fifth in the Petite Final Sunday afternoon.

The novice eight boat of Lauren Takahashi, Mike Nichols, Brett Lynch, Gary Bastian, Andrew Griffin, Scott Haesler, Nick Marinello, Gabriel Jacobs and Evan Centala finished in fifth place with a time of 6:32.64, which was ahead of the UC Santa Barbara boat who finished with a time of 6:39.50. The novice eight boat was the only Torero boat, men or women, to race in the Grand Finale at the Crew Classic.

The varsity eight boat of Mary Tausend, Stephen Wainwright, Ryan Boufford, Henry Perazelli, William Stoney, Michael Fox, Conor Brennan, Daniel Ferons, Taylor Shramo finished their run with a time of 6.16.74, good for fifth place, which was five seconds faster than the sixth place boat from Fordam.

 

 

The Toreros will return to the water on April 9, up in Newport Beach at the Newport Regatta.
