SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's rowing team had a great showing at the Newport regatta this past weekend. The varsity and second varsity eights claimed silver, with only two tenths and four tenths of a second respectively keeping them from the gold in Newport Beach last weekend.

"Both squads are gaining confidence in the second half of the race. We moved through some of the best teams in California in the final meters of the course," stated head coach Brooks Dagman. "While it is frustrating to miss out on gold by such a small margin, the team now knows that they are quite good."

The team travels to Stanford for the Stanford Invitation this coming weekend where they will face nationally ranked Oregon State, as well as Davis and WCC rival Santa Clara.
