SAN DIEGO, Calif. -The University of San Diego men's rowing team has qualified for the National Championships for the second time in four years, thanks to a strong showing at the WIRA's this past weekend. USD took home a silver medal in the varsity 8 boat.

The varsity 8 boat of cox Mary Tausend, John Bacic, Jake Harrison, Henry Perazelli, William Stoney, Chris Sheehan, Glen Evans, Gary Bastian, Stephen Wainwrightfinished in second place in an extremely fast and hotly contested race. The Torero boat finished almost a full length up on cross-town rival UCSD clinching that 2nd qualifying spot at IRA. Gonzaga University won the Varsity 8 event and also qualified for the National Championships.

After the rowing event, William Stoney, Henry Perazelli, Stephen Wainwrightwere all named to the All-WIRA team.
