A total of 576 student-athletes recognized from 11 PFL squads

USD: Shey Newton will play as a defensive lineman for USD after redshirting in 2016. He was named to the 2016 PFL Academic Honor Roll. He was also recruited by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Occidental College; but ultimately chose USD for their impressive athletics, academics and location.

High School: The Webb Schools had Newton on their varsity football team for 2 years where he completed 67 tackles and 8 sacks his senior year and 54 tackles his junior year. This earned him the title of 1st Team All-League. Newton also ran track and field for 2 years and played varsity basketball for 3. For these sports he was named All-League twice, Most Inspirational and had one honorable mention.

Personal: Newton loves playing football and basketball whenever he can; however, he also enjoys cutting hair.

Major: Behavioral Neuroscience
