SAN DIEGO – The USD Toreros stayed perfect in PFL play with today’s 45-15 victory over the Drake Bulldogs. Senior defensive end Jonathan Petersen totaled three sacks to become the program’s all-time leader, and quarterback Anthony Lawrence threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns. The Toreros improve to 6-0 in the PFL standings and 7-2 overall. It marked USD’s 19th straight PFL win and 30th straight home PFL victory.

The previous mark was held by Eric Bakhtiari (35, 2004-2007). The Bulldogs would eventually work their way down to the San Diego 15 yard line, but Danny Donley’s 32-yard field goal attempt would be blocked by Daniel Cooney. The Torero defense would force a three-and-out and take over on the Drake 38 after David Tolbert’s 7-yard punt return. On second down Lawrence connected with Dwelley for a 28-yard pass play and two plays later found Michael Bandy for an 11-yard touchdown at the 3:01 mark. Patrick Murray would add a 24-yard field goal as time expired in the first half and the Toreros heading to the locker room with a 17-7 advantage.

Early in the second half Kishan Patel intercepted Kraemer at the San Diego 15 yard line and returned it 21 yards. USD followed with a 12-play, 64 yard drive that was culminated with a 3-yard reception by Zack Holland for a touchdown and 24-7 lead with 6:32 left.
