Scripps Ranch, CA - Sebastian Trujillo and Conrad Smith of the USD football team were guest speakers at Chabad Hebrew Academy in Scripps Ranch on May 12th. As part of school's (K-8) field day event, Sebastian and Conrad played a key role in the day's festivities, providing additional value to the program and physical activities that were occurring. Both shared some background on their lives, including challenges and accomplishments while growing up, that motivated and captured the attention of the audience. By emphasizing the importance of an education, completing homework, and earning good grades, they were able to reinforce the meaning of being a student-athlete. The children had many questions for them such as; Do you ever get hurt; who is their favorite NFL player/team; how many wins did the team have last season; what sports did they play while growing up and how many interceptions Seb threw last year.
All in all, it was a memorable experience for Trujillo and Smith and more importantly an opportunity to inspire the children of Chabad Hebrew Academy. USD Coordinator of Student-Athlete Services, Ron Valenzuela, worked with Chabad Hebrew Academy P.E. teacher Austin Olson to make this day happen.
