University of San Diego head football coach Ron Caragher will speak at Sports at Lunch on Thursday, July 26 at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. Senior quarterback Josh Johnson and senior defensive end Eric Bakhtiari, who were both 3rd Team Associated Press All-Americans in 2006, will appear with Caragher to talk about the upcoming 2007 season. Caragher is preparing for his first season at USD after previously coaching as an assistant at Kentucky and UCLA and playing quarterback for Terry Donahue at UCLA.

USD is coming off a second straight NCAA Division I-AA Mid-Major mythical national championship. The Toreros were 11-1 in both the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Johnson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior from Oakland Tech, and Bakhtiari, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound senior from Burlingame, were both named Division I-AA Mid-Major All-Americans for the second straight year. In addition, Johnson and Bakhtiari were named third-team All-Americans for all Division I-AA schools. That included the scholarship programs that competed in the NCAA Division I-AA team.

Ask Caragher about replacing Jim Harbaugh at USD and continuing the Toreros' success.

Ask Caragher about playing at UCLA for Terry Donahue when Troy Aikman was the starter.

Ask Caragher about rebuilding a college football program in today's environment. Caragher was on Rich Brooks' staff at Kentucky when the Wildcats suffered through three losing seasons before breaking through in 2006 with an 8-5 record and win in the Music City Bowl.

Ask Johnson and Bakhtiari about their final year at USD and their NFL hopes.
