Mason Mills threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns
University of San Diego quarterback Mason Mills was selected as the USD/Muscle Milk Student Athlete of the Week after leading the Toreros to a 34-27 come from behind win over Western New Mexico.
Mills, a redshirt junior from Coronado, found Reggie Bell for a 29 yard touchdown pass with a just a minute remaining to seal the first victory of the season for the Toreros. On the day Mills went 27-37 for 303 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.
With the game tied at 27-27 and just 3:32 remaining in the game, Mills led the Toreros on a nine-play 84-yard drive going 6-8 for 65 yards and connecting with four different receivers.
Mills was also named the PFL Offensive Player of the Week. It was the third time Mills has received this honor.
The Toreros will look for Mills to have another solid outing on Saturday as USD travels cross-country to take on the Harvard Crimson Tide at 9:30 a.m.
