Hutch Parker named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week

Two USD football players, Todd Mortensen and Hutch Parker, were recognized by the Pioneer Football League office today as PFL Players of the Week for their performances in USD's 35-14 win over Wagner. Mortensen, playing in his final collegiate game, was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 210 yard and four touchdowns. Parker, a freshman kicker out of Dana Point, California, was named Special Teams Player of the Week for his punting and PAT duties.
Mortensen picks up his fourth Player of the Week accolade after completing 26-of-42 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns as San Diego defeated Wagner. He waited until the second quarter to throw his first touchdown - a 3-yard pass to Dustin Owen - and followed that two minutes later with a 50-yard TD strike to Nick Garton that proved to be the game-winner. He tacked on touchdown passes in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He finished the season with 2,874 yards and 25 TDs on 234-of-389 passing.
Parker was called on just four times in San Diego's victory against Wagner. He fnished with 155 yards punting (38.8 ypp) with a long of 52 yards and one punt inside the 20-yard line. Parker also chipped in 3 PATs.
