Joe Ferguson named PFL player of the week

Nov. 19, 2012

USD's Joe Ferguson (Junior RB; Santa Rosa, Calif.) has been named the Pioneer Football League offensive player of the week.Ferguson's 13-yard touchdown run with 4:02 remaining kept San Diego's PFL Championship hopes alive with a 17-10 victory at Davidson this past Saturday. He finished the game with 28 carries for 170 yards and both San Diego touchdowns. Ferguson also had an 11-yard run on the second half's second play from scrimmage to give San Diego a 10-7 lead. He also had three pass receptions for 18 yards and finished the game with 188 all-purpose yards. The Toreros (7-3 overall, 6-1 PFL), winners of five straight games, will travel to Poughkeepsie, New York for a December 1st make-up game with Marist College (9:00 a.m. PST). A victory over the Red Foxes would give the Toreros a share of the PFL title (with Butler and Drake) for the second consecutive season.
