(Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) - The host USD Toreros golf team finds itself alone atop the team leaderboard of the 2014 The Farms Collegiate Invitational being played at The Farms Golf Club (par 72; 6,947 yards). USD turned in team scores of 283-292 and their 1-under par 575 is three strokes better than Duke (281-297) and five better than third place Kennesaw State (285-295). Junior Grant Forrest (North Berwick, Scotland) is the clubhouse leader with his 5-under total of 139 (67-72) - his first round 67 was the day's low score.

USD freshman Nick Baines (Portland, Oregon), playing as an individual, carded a fine 69 in the morning round and his two-round total of 142 is good for a tie for 4th overall. Just one stroke behind Forrest is Jimmy Beck of Kennesaw State at 140 (71-69), while Motin Yeung of Duke is two strokes back at 141 (68-73).

Rounding out USD's team scoring was Mathias Dahl (T9 at 145; 73-72), Alex Chiarella (T15 at 147; 69-78), Skyler Finnell (T19 at 148; 74-74) and Taylor Schmidt (T19 at 148; 74-74). Following Baines in the individual competition for USD is freshman Will Twitty (T53 at 156; 77-79), Joe Carlson (62nd at 160; 82-78), and Mike Bosco (67th at 166; 81-85).

The third and final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday with players teeing off holes #1 and #10. Live scoring can be found at www.usdtoreros.com and www.golfstat.com.
