(Somis, Calif.) - The USD men's golf team is in third place with one round to go at the Jones Invitational being played at the Saticoy Country Club (par 72, 6985 yards) in Somis, California. After two rounds of play the Toreros own a team score of 16-over par 592 (297-295) and trail both USC (585, +9) and San Diego State (589, +13) in the twelve team event. USD senior Taylor Schmidt (Boise, ID) is USD's leader after day one with a two-round total of 148 (73-75), good for a tie for 8th overall. He trails two players tied at the top of the leader board with 143 totals - Anthony Paolucci of USC (70-73) and Riccardo Michelini of SDSU (70-73).
Following Schmidt for USD includes Grant Forrest (T11 at 149; 75-74), Alex Chiarella (T11 at 149; 75-74), Skyler Finnell (T16 at 150; 74-76) and Mathias Dahl (T21 at 151; 79-72). Torero freshman Will Twitty is playing as an individual and is currently tied for 46th at 158 (80-78).
USD golfers will begin their final round of play starting at just past 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
