(Tucson, AZ) - The USD men's golf team is competing at the 2014 National Invitational Tournament at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club (Catalina Course, par 72, 7094 yards) in Tucson, Arizona. For the second straight day the Toreros shot a team score of 290 and their two-round total of 4-over par 580 puts them in 9th place heading into Sunday's final round. USD junior Grant Forrest fired his second straight 1-under par 71 and is tied for 15th at 142. The Toreros trail 17th-ranked Texas A&M by three strokes. Third ranked Cal is running away with the tourney at 27-under par 549 (268-281), and currently lead SMU by 16 strokes (290-275).
Individually Cal's Michael Weaver is the clubhouse leader at 7-under par 137 (67-70). He holds a one stroke lead over teammate Keelan Kilpatrick (69-69) and SMU's Harry Higgs (71-67). USD's Forrest is followed by sophomore Alex Chiarella (T25 at 144; 73-71), junior Mathias Dahl (T44 at 147; 73-74), senior Taylor Schmidt (T56 at 149; 75-74) and senior Joe Carlson (T56 at 149; 73-76).
Tomorrow's second round will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
