Forrest fired a final round 69 to tie for 8th overall

(Tucson, AZ) - USD junior Grant Forrest fired a final round 3-under par 69 to finish tied for 8th (211) at the 2014 National Invitational Tournament at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club (Catalina Course, par 72, 7094 yards) in Tucson, Arizona. The Toreros shot a final round team score of 292 to place 10th overall at 872 (+8). Third ranked Cal ran away with the team title as the Bears finished at 33-under par 831, outdistancing both 2nd-ranked Oklahoma State and SMU (846). Cal's Joel Staler fired a final round 66 to finish at 11-under par 205 to win medalist honors.
Grant Forrest opened his final round with bogeys on holes one and three, then closed out with five birdies (holes 5, 8, 10, 12, 18) over the final fifteen holes. Rounding out USD scoring was sophomore Alex Chiarella (T51 at 222; 73-71-78), junior Mathias Dahl (T51 at 222; 73-74-75), senior Joe Carlson (T51 at 222; 73-76-73), and senior Taylor Schmidt (T62 at 224; 75-74-75).
Up next for the Toreros will be the ASU Thunderbird Invitational (Mar. 21-23) in Tempe, Arizona at the Karsten Golf Course.
