(Bremerton, WA) - USD sophomore Grant Forrest (North Berwick, Scotland) fired a second round 5-under par 67 to move into the lead at the 2013 West Coast Conference Men's Golf Championships with one round to go. Forrest, last year's WCC Freshman of the Year, heads into tomorrow's final round with a two-round total of 141 (74-67) on the Olympic Course (par 72; 7,007 yards) at the Gold Mountain Golf Club. He holds a one stroke lead over Mac McClung of Saint Mary's (71-71) and Joe Parkinson of BYU (70-72). The Toreros shot a second round team score of 290 and find themselves nine strokes back of leader Saint Mary's College (580).

Forrest opened his round with a double bogey on the first hole before getting on a roll with birdies at holes 4, 6, 10, 11, 15, 16 and 18. After opening the front nine with an even par 36, he shot a fantastic 31 coming in. Teammate Taylor Schmidt shot a 1-under par 71 to move up into a tie for 17th at 148. Rounding out USD scoring was Linus Vaisanen (T17 at 148, 71-77), Joe Carlson (T31 at 152, 77-75) and Alexis Gemme-Piacente (T34 at 154, 77-77).
