(Bremerton, WA) - USD sophomore Grant Forrest (North Berwick, Scotland) fired a final round 3-under par 69 to finish at 210 (-6) and earn medalist honors at the 2013 West Coast Conference Championships. He beat out runner-up James Fahy of Gonzaga by four strokes. Forrest becomes the fourth Torero to win the WCC individual title outright. Forrest, last year's WCC Freshman of the Year, was 8-under par over his final two rounds on the Olympic Course (par 72; 6,980 yards) at the Gold Mountain Golf Club.

"It feels great since this is the last event before regionals and nationals," said Grant Forrest. "I've come close a few times this year, a couple of runner-up finishes, so it was good to finish off the job today. It's obviously a great honor. We play against a lot of these guys throughout the year and this is the first time I've come out on top. It definitely is a good feeling."

The USD Toreros began the day in a tie for 5th, but moved up two spots with their final team score of 291 (+3) to finish tied for third at 880 along with BYU and Gonzaga. Saint Mary's College won the team title for the second straight year as they edged out San Francisco by just two strokes finishing with a three-round total of 872 (+8).

Rounding out USD scoring was junior Taylor Schmidt (T12 at 219; 77-71-71), sophomore Linus Vaisanen (T23 at 225, 71-77-77), junior Joe Carlson (T30 at 227, 77-75-75) and sophomore Alexis Gemme-Piacente (T34 at 230, 77-77-76).

For the second straight year, Forrest was named to the All-WCC First Team, while Schmidt received All-WCC honorable mention recognition.
