(Sugar Grove, Ill.) - The USD Toreros shot a final round team score of 309 to finish at 14th at the 2013 Northern Intercollegiate. Taylor Schmidt shot a 73 today for the team's low round, while Joe Carlson and Grant Forrest each tied for 33rd place. Central Florida won the team event after shooting a final round team score of 283 to finish at 866 (+2), one stroke better than Virginia. Houston the leader on day one and day two finished in third place. Roman Robledo of Houston won medalist honors with a three-round total of 211 (-5), holding off a fast charging Greg Eason of Central Florida (final round 67, 212).

The 54-hole, three-day event is taking place at the Rich Harvest Farms Gold Club (par 71; 7,236 yards). USD senior Joe Carlson (T33 at 225, 77-72-76) and Grant Forrest (T33 at 225, 81-69-75) were team leaders, followed by Taylor Schmidt (T55 at 231, 81-77-73), Mathias Dahl (T71 at 237, 83-75-79), Alex Chiarella (T79 at 242, 77-79-86) and Will Twitty (82nd at 243, 82-79-82).

The Toreros return to action Sept. 16-17 when they compete in the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington.
