Toreros in 1st place at Bill Cullum Invitational

(Simi Valley, CA) - The USD men's golf team, the defending champion of the Bill Cullum Invitational, is off to another solid start at this year's 20 team event. The Toreros shot a first round team score of 282 (-6) to lead #24 Arizona State by two strokes. The second round in the afternoon was suspended due to darkness with the Toreros still holding onto their first place lead. Second round play will be completed Tuesday morning beginning at 7:45 a.m., with the third and final round to begin right afterwards.

Junior Mathias Dahl shot the team's low round with a score of 68 (-4) on the Wood Ranch Golf Club course (par 72, 6,819 yards). He was followed by sophomore Alex Chiarella at 69 (-3), junior Grant Forrest (71), senior Taylor Schmidt (74) and freshman Sebastian Smith (76). Low scores for the first round were turned in by Jon Rahm of Arizona State and Kevin Lee of Long Beach State, each with 67 (-5).
