(Kauai, Hawaii) - The USD men's golf team, under the direction of first year head coach Cory Scoggin, rallied from 13 strokes back to win the 2011 Kauai Collegiate Invitational for the fourth consecutive year. The Toreros, behind freshman Linus Vaisanen's final round 66, shot a third round team score of 270 to defeat host Hawaii by one stroke. USD finished the three day tourney with a team total of 850 (296-284-270) as Vaisanen was runner-up at 209 (75-68-66).

USD senior Alex Ching fired a final round 70 to place 5th overall at 213 (69-74-70). He was followed by Grant Forrest (8th at 215; 4-72-69), freshman Alexis Piacente (9th at 217; 81-71-65) and Leon Knoll (t-27th at 227; 78-73-76). Two Toreros were competing as individuals - Joe Carlson (36th at 232; 76-83-73) and Mike Bosco (41st at 236; 75-83-78). Hawaii's Thomas Kua won medalist honors with his 202 (69-67-66). USD's Piacente's third round 65 was the low round of the tournament.
