SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego golf team will return to action Monday at the North Ranch Intercollegiate in Westlake Village at the North Ranch Country Club (par 71, 6,753 yards).
After Sunday's practice round, the two-day event will start with 36 holes played on Monday, February 25 at 7:30 a.m., followed by 18 holes on Tuesday.
In addition to San Diego, the 12-team tournament consists of Pepperdine, USC, Arizona State, BYU, Liberty, Lipscomb, San Diego State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and Western Kentucky.
The Toreros are fresh off a fourth place finish (12 teams) at the Farms Collegiate Invitational. USD was led by Grant Forrest's 11th place finish (223; 73-73-77). Alex Chiarella (224; 81-71-72) and Mathias Dahl (224; 76-81-67) finished tied for thirteenth. Dahl posted the lowest third round score, shooting a five-under par (67) in the final day.
The North Ranch Classic was hosted by USC from 1978-2011 and Pepperdine hosted the event last year. This year, the two schools are co-hosts.
Past notable winners of this event include Corey Pavin (1978 & 1981, UCLA), Tiger Woods (1996, Stanford), Paul Casey (1998, Arizona State), and Anthony Kim (2006, Oklahoma).
