SAN DIEGO — USD’s men’s golf team is set to compete this week in the 2017 West Coast Conference Championships, held April 20-22 at Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah. All of the WCC teams will play 54 holes over three days on the par-72 course.
The Toreros will compete against No. 22 Pepperdine, No. 47 BYU, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, San Francisco, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara. Representing the Toreros will be senior Nick Baines (Portland, OR), junior Daniel Lopez (Los Angeles, CA), freshman Dalton Hankamer (Temple, TX), freshman Camilo Mexsen (Gomez Palacio, Durango) and junior Regan Kilpatrick (Christchurch, New Zealand).
At last year’s 2016 WCC Golf Championships, USD finished in 4th place out of nine teams. The Toreros combined for an 8-over par total of 872 (288-296-288). Torero senior Alex Chiarella tied for 11th place at 217 (71-76-70). Saint Mary’s won the 2016 team title.
Tournament play at this year’s WCC Championships will begin at 7 a.m. PDT on Thursday morning. The 2017 Championships are free and open to the public.
